Some people had to work in the Church so that they would no go to hell. The benefits of working in a Church were you can move up the ladder from say a priest to a bishop and so on.
Throughout time there are struggles between historical figures such as this example Pope Gregory and Henry IV(king). The struggle between these two is different from most situations. What had happened was the King and Pope were arguing over who had more power. The Pope ended up having more power and had Henry over rule him. He had to say outside for three days! The king got mad and when he got back into the Church the Pope was no longer in charge.
Long ago in a far away place there was a monk who was named Mitch. Mitch the Monk had to wake up very morning and remind himself of the three vows. He looked into the pond by the church and said "The vow of Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience." Once he said this five times he had to look at his chore for the day. Yesterday he had to produce wine ale and honey. Today he asked the head monk what to do and he had to copy the manuscript. This job was so nerve raking it was the most important. This was very important because Mitch had a feeling that they would use this is the future...he was right! But, I am getting ahead of myself. As the day went on it was a calming day with silence and grace. They worked and worked until the job was done. When they were done with church they spent many hours reading the Holy Book, the Bible.
Mitch had been thinking about what he was doing. He had to concentrate on the letters he is writing. So while he is doing that, the scriptures are so important so that way we can know what happened in the past. Without the monks we would not know who or what happened or what the Bible says. The monks would just copy and copy all the pages of the bible multiple times. Look at that Mitch is done for the day and is now reading the bible and repting the vows one last time. That is how a munk spends his day.
